Israel García
Israel García, a Junior Associate with LJS, brings years of experience as a trainer and facilitator with a personal passion for social justice and public policy to create a more equitable, fair, and open society.
Fully bilingual in Spanish and English, Israel is trained in the Institute of Cultural Affairs Technology of Participation (ToP), a methodology that increases participation and encourages consensus-building. He has conducted research around racial/ethnic identity development, especially for young people and Latinos in the US.
He is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder with undergraduate degrees in Sociology, Ethnic Studies, and Political Science and a certificate in Leadership Studies and Practice. Currently, he is a fellow with the Colorado Progressive Political Leaders Fellowship, where he is deepening his leadership and public policy skills.
Israel has worked to increase access to higher education for first-generation college students and also created and implemented a nonpartisan voter registration and education plan for college campuses. He serves as a board member with the Colorado Progressive Action, working to build Colorado’s progressive movement.
Israel grew up in a working class, immigrant, Mexican family in the rural mountain town of Monte Vista, Colorado, USA. He now lives in Denver.
